The 2-Day Inca Trail is the perfect option for travelers who want to experience the magic of the legendary Camino Inca in a shorter timeframe. Starting from Km 104, the route combines stunning mountain scenery, cloud forest biodiversity, and impressive Inca archaeological sites along the way.
Visit Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna before reaching the iconic Sun Gate, where you’ll enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. After an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes, explore the Lost City of the Incas with a guided tour and free time to enjoy the sanctuary at your own pace before returning to Cusco.
Day by day journey
DAY 1 Day 1 — Cusco → Km 104 → Wiñay Wayna → Machu Picchu → Aguas Calientes
Your journey begins early in the morning with a train ride from Cusco to Km 104, the starting point of the hike. Along the route, visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba, once used for agricultural production destined for Machu Picchu.
Continue hiking through beautiful cloud forest landscapes with views of the Urubamba River, native orchids, and local bird species. Arrive at the impressive Wiñay Wayna archaeological complex, where you’ll stop for lunch and explore the site.
In the afternoon, continue toward Inti Punku (Sun Gate) for your first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu before descending to Aguas Calientes for the overnight stay.
DAY 2 Day 2 — Machu Picchu → Cusco
After breakfast, take the bus up to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of approximately 3 hours through the most important sectors of the citadel, learning about its history, architecture, and significance.
After free time for lunch and personal exploration, return to Cusco by train. Transfer back to your hotel included.
